Dear Graham & David,
A big thank you for the really wonderful job you have done on my Bechstein V upright.
It is especially remarkable as you took the job on with the piano in pieces, after I abandoned my ill-advised attempts at amateur restoration. I had managed to French polish some of the panels (the easy bits) but there was much I hadn't started and, to make things worse, there was damage to the veneer and, in places, evidence of my clumsy attempts to repair it. The innards were also completely dismantled, so it had not been played for years.
Somehow you managed to turn this pile of bits into a beautiful instrument. It now looks better than I ever thought it could, the veneer beautifully repaired and the French polishing bringing out the best in the mahogany finish. It sounds lovely too. I've had to readjust to playing an acoustic piano after years with only an electronic one, but it amply repays the effort with its warm tone and responsive touch.
Many thanks for all this, the piano will be played a lot and will give years of pleasure.
Best regards
Jim Prior
