Welcome to the Bedhampton Pianoshop Blog!

We have been restoring and selling pianos since 1988. We specialise in restoring and reconditioning old pianos, both upright and grand. Our work ranges from minor servicing right through to complete overhauls and rebuilding projects which take many weeks to complete.

The aim of the blog is to post regular progress reports on ongoing restoration work, as well as updates on the current available stock and any new arrivals. Where possible these updates will be accompanied by photos to demonstrate the work that we do.

Dear Graham,
We just wanted to drop you a note to say how thrilled we are with our new piano.  Your advice and professionalism  throughout our purchase was exceptional and my daughter is  thrilled with our purchase.  She fell in love with it the minute she walked through the door and affectionately calls her the “old beauty”  and has already composed a piece in her honour– she is 6!  I was anxious making such a big purchase as I do not play and was grateful for all your guidance and support and anybody who listens to Shoshana playing confirms we have the right piano for her.  Your after sales serves is superb and I was impressed with your call the day after it was delivered to check if we used the wood burner in the room the piano was installed in – fortunately we do not!!
I would unreservedly recommend Bedhampton Pianos to anybody who asks and would like to say a huge thank you again.

Concert Pianist

My name is Valentina Seferinova, (M. Mus [Theory], Assistant Prof [Performance], concert pianist; Lecturer of Music.)   www.ValentinaSeferinova.com for fuller information.
I have known Graham since 1998. A number of my students have bought pianos from the Bedhampton Piano Shop and both parents and students have been extremely happy with the instruments and services provided, plus any enquiry my students or I have had - he has promptly dealt with, together with a high level of professionalism and commitment.
On a more personal level, I have been always amazed to the extent Graham has gone, and goes to, to provide 1stclass instruments and services. I will never forget that for one of my 1st concerts in this country (some 15 years ago in 1999!) where the venue didn’t have a good instrument Graham made the impossible possible by sponsoring the concert and provided one of his finest instruments - Thank you Graham! (By the way, a year ago when a student of mine played as a soloist with an orchestra, a lady came to me to congratulate me and my student. Guess what – she had been an audience member all those years ago -  and she still remembered that same concert almost 15 years ago!)."

Dear Graham & David,

A big thank you for the really wonderful job you have done on my Bechstein V upright.

It is especially remarkable as you took the job on with the piano in pieces, after I abandoned my ill-advised attempts at amateur restoration. I had managed to French polish some of the panels (the easy bits) but there was much I hadn't started and, to make things worse, there was damage to the veneer and, in places, evidence of my clumsy attempts to repair it. The innards were also completely dismantled, so it had not been played for years.

Somehow you managed to turn this pile of bits into a beautiful instrument. It now looks better than I ever thought it could, the veneer beautifully repaired and the French polishing bringing out the best in the mahogany finish. It sounds lovely too. I've had to readjust to playing an acoustic piano after years with only an electronic one, but it amply repays the effort with its warm tone and responsive touch.

Many thanks for all this, the piano will be played a lot and will give years of pleasure.

Best regards
Jim Prior

Dear Graham

I would like to thank you once again for the lovely service you have provided me with. I am absolutely delighted with my new piano; it looks amazing and I cannot believe the transformation from when I first saw it in your workshop (all lonely and abandoned) to now. The care, attention to detail and loving both you and Harry put into restoring my Thurmer are admirable. It sounds lovely and it looks amazing. Thank you also for being so patient with my stool choice and for being able to replace it when we realised the colour was too dark compared to the piano itself; your customer service skills go a long way and I will most certainly come back to do more business with you and I would recommend you to anyone who is looking to buy a piano a receive great service.

Warm Regards

Fran
